With limited field space and no new indoor facilities in sight, we are dangerously close to being forced to post “no vacancy” signs on every soccer facility in the city.
More than 30,000 kids registered to play soccer this year, a number that’s grown over 10% year-over-year, and the demand for indoor games even outpaced Calgary’s rate of growth with a two-to-one increase in bookings in 2023.
With existing facilities facing issues of overcrowding, games are being held in places not meant for kids playing soccer like school gymnasiums, warehouses, and church basements.
The solution is simple: we need to make sure our kids have the space to play soccer and increase investments in those spaces.
The impact of a new world-class fieldhouse goes beyond the pitch—it’s an investment in Calgary’s future and will:
- Provide year-round spaces for training, development, and tournaments.
- Create thousands of jobs during construction and operation.

Did you know the Shane Homes West Soccer Dome is a FIFA QUALITY PRO surface?
A FIFA QUALITY PRO endorsement ensures the highest quality surface for playing performance and the facility must pass a yearly inspection to maintain it’s FIFA certification.
To keep this facility certified, please remember:
- NO FOOD OR DRINK is permitted inside the dome. This includes coffee, sport drinks, sunflower seeds, chewing gum, and tobacco products. This includes purchases from the ML Snack House.
- ONLY water is permitted inside the dome.
- NO OUTSIDE, WET OR MUDDY SHOES inside the dome.
- NO LAWN CHAIRS (lawn chairs will damage the turf and are not permitted inside the dome).
Facility Guidelines:
- Unauthorized raffle or lottery sales are not allowed
- For the enjoyment of all, excessive noise makers are not allowed in the facility (horns, drums, cow bells, etc)
